Comfort in the storm

There has been a lot of bad weather going on in different places. In my area, we have had over 4 days of thunderstorms, some hail, heavy rain, flooding, and threats of tornadoes. Our pastor sent out a comforting message to our congregation. He recommended reading and meditating on Psalm 29 if the weather conditions threatens to unnerve us. He prayed for God to give strength to his people and to bless his people with peace.

If you find yourself or your loved ones in the midst of dangerous weather conditions, may this bring comfort to your weary soul.

Psalms 29:1-11

A Psalm of David

1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty,
give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;
worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters:
the God of glory thundereth:
the LORD is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars;
yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf;
Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness;
the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve,
and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood;
yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto his people;
the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Race~what the Bible says

The world/culture we live in has all kinds of opinions, but as a believer we are to get our truth from God’s Word. Our worldview should center around what we learn from reading and studying scripture. We should strive to develop a biblical worldview not just go along with the current society/cultural way of thinking. We should even challenge any wrong thing we have been taught throughout our lives to see if it truly came from God’s Word. What does the Word of God have to say about race? Watch and see for yourself.

God puts to shame worldly wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:27-29

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base (insignificant/lowly) things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are that no flesh should glory in His presence.”

Bring every thought captive

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”

Great is Thy faithfulness

Happy Lord’s Day! Here is another one of several church Hymns I love. It sounded so beautiful to hear everyone singing this together at church.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

  • Refrain:
    Great is Thy faithfulness!
    Great is Thy faithfulness!
    Morning by morning new mercies I see:
    All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
