There is a fountain…

Happy Lord’s Day! It was refreshing to be able to go to church and fellowship with the brethren today. Last Sunday we were all snowed and iced in here in my area, so services were cancelled. Today we sang this beloved old hymn during worship. Here is a portion of the song:

There is a fountain filled with blood
  Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
  Lose all their guilty stains:
  Lose all their guilty stains,
  Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
  Lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see
  That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
  Wash all my sins away:
  Wash all my sins away,
  Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
  Wash all my sins away.

Be sure to listen to the whole song played in its entirety and read more about its author and origins. Until next time, I pray you spend today with the Lord and rest well with your loved ones the rest of the day.

Christ the Solid Rock

I love hearing and singing hymns in worship to God our heavenly Father. My soul is always so comforted and refreshed. Our church sang this beloved old hymn during worship that I typed a portion of below.

“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
  All other ground is sinking sand.”

Great is Thy faithfulness

Happy Lord’s Day! Here is another one of several church Hymns I love. It sounded so beautiful to hear everyone singing this together at church.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

  • Refrain:
    Great is Thy faithfulness!
    Great is Thy faithfulness!
    Morning by morning new mercies I see:
    All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

It is Well with my Soul

Here is one of several church Hymns I love. Do you ever sing this at your church?

It is Well with my Soul

When peace like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul

It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come
Let this blest assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And hath shed His own blood for my soul

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul

Note: This is not the entire song. You can listen to the full song here.

This song sure can bring comfort to a weary soul. Be sure to read all about the history behind this song as well.
